.22 Hornet with 1:9 twist barrel

        Hi , does anyone have any suggestions of a starting point to reload for this rifle ? I have yet to find reloading info for the hornet with this twist rate . I have a Lyman 55gn mold & a 45 gn mold of unknown origin . They produce nice little bullets complete with lube grooves . It would be great to get a bit more accuracy.  Thanks for this great site guys ,NEF/HANDIS are not all that common here in Australia so its "handi" to be able to tap into all the knowledge that haunts the site.

If you can get Hogdon LIL GUN powder that would be a great place to start. Also 35 Grain Vmax and 34 grain Midsouth (A GBO sponsor) varmint nightmare bullets have shown great accuracy with many members here.

Welcome aboard Gary!  ;) I'd just load em up and ignore the twist rate, Lil'gun is my Hornet powder, but I don't shoot cast, standard twist for the H&R Hornet has been 1:12", same as the 223 Rem which is now also 1:9" which shoots 45gr and bigger bullets just fine.  ;) I don't know if you have Lil'gun there, looking at the ADI data, show makes many of Hodgdon's powders, I don't see the equivalent to it in a ADI offering, but AR2207 data matches H4198 which in Hodgdon's data shows to be a nice low pressure powder at max loads. The Lyman 48th lists data for two cast bullets, 44gr and 55gr using several powders, among them H110 and IMR4227, both of which I believe are ADI powders.  ;)
