wanted to share
« on: December 02, 2009, 02:32:25 PM »
High everyone.  This isn't a Handi Rifle nor even anything related to an NEF but I wanted to share.  We aren't allowed to use cartridge rifles in Ohio so I used my S&W 629 44 magnum with a five inch barrel.  The 250 grain cast "Keith" did its  job at around fifty yards.  Never mind the date on the pictures te camera needs reset.  Got him yesterday.  ;D

Good job. Handgun big game is no easy task, good job!!!  Very satisfying, I wish they would allow us to do it here in CT!!

Taking a deer with an un-scoped revolver requires a steady hand and good eyes, not to mention hunting prowess and lots of shooting practice.  That's a good size deer, but any deer is a trophy with a weapon like yours.  Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Guys,

I normally hunt with either a handgun or muzzle loader.   I have not used a shotgun for a long, long time.  I've probably   zapped at least fifteen with various handguns.  I switched spots for the last few days to an area that has a lot of open fields where they picked the corn and beans, so I'm using my TC Contender in 45-70 trying for my second one.  Not too much today other than first light this morning saw a bunch of good sized does but they were too far away for me to be comfortable with a shot.  The neighbor who's property I'm hunting on, asked me if I had seen him on the road this morning.  Told him I hadn't and he said that he was trying to run some toward me.  Said there were two bucks, one big twelve that was really wide and he thought the other was an eight.  He told me they were running with a couple of does and thought that they had been about fifty or sixty yards from where I had been sitting but I never laid eyes on them or heard them. :(  That's why they call it hunting!  Tommorows a new day. :)

Looks like a FastFire mounted on the revolver? If so, how do you like it?

Nice shooting Wolfgang.                                                                                                                                               The hunting regs here in Ohio are pretty strange. Some time in the late 90's it became legal to hunt with a handgun chambered in something like, say a 50-140 Sharps? But you can't shoot one with a 243 Win. because the shape of the case.

     Enjoy that deer.

Nice going Wolfgang! I shot at a big doe and missed with my 357 mag during gun week after taking one with the 20 ga. Handi :-\ Not sure I will get out over the coming weekend as I came down with a bad cold and have to catch a flight for Christmas so I don't want to get any sicker. There is always ML yet though and more bow hunting in the late part of the season. Good hunting to you.

Good going Wolfgang! Pistol hunting in Ohio is fun. I live in Cambridge and usually get a decent buck during archery so then I doe hunt during the gun season. Took this one with a .375 Win T/C.
