Mossberg 17hmr?
« on: January 10, 2010, 03:26:12 AM »
Anybody heave the Mossberg bolt action in 17hmr?  What's your impressions of it?  I have been wanting a light weight varmint gun in that caliber.  Most of what I'm finding are bull barrel guns.  The only really light rifle I have seen in stock locally is a Mossy (mod 807 I think).  Nice light gun with a thin barrel.  Just what I want.  Now, are they any good?  I realy want to just buy and walk away, not special order something.

Since no one responded, I'm thinking that no one here has one of these.

OK, I stepped up to the plate and got one.  As soon as I can put a scope on it and get it all dialed in I'll put up a review.  Looking around I couldn't find doodly-squat for reviews good or bad.  They just don't seem to be out there too much.

I would go with a 222 or 223 to varmit hunt with or something centerfire so you can reload it      thats if you are gonna shoot it a lot
it is a lot cheaper to reload
17 hmr shells are a 1 shot deal    i'm not throwing off on 17hmr either but most small guns i like to shoot a lot

I have one Its a tack driver and I would give it a new zip code if I could I much prefer the 22 mag to work with. The 17 is a really fun squrrel gun but I just can't make the change My son thinks the 17 is great. Shoot one and you may be a fan That what makes this world go around
