Dreadful movie: Love Guru
« on: December 07, 2009, 06:22:28 AM »
I rented Love Guru, which was made by the same guy who did Austin Powers. This movie is dreadful junior high school humor that is not worth your time or money. I turned it off after a half hour. It was a waste of money.

It is an example of how movie makers are able to fit a movie into the rating system. It's PG-13, but in my opininion should be R. It's a dirty movie. Don't let your kids watch it.

I heard it was pretty bad. Haven't watched it myself, but a lot of Mike Myer's newer stuff is getting pretty tired.  Austin Powers 1 & 2 were good (2 particularly so).  3 was just rehashed junk though, and his other stuff has been boring.  We've actually been in a bit of a comedy rut lately to be honest.  Those parody movies (Scary Movie 1-4, Epic Movie, Not Another Teen Movie, Date Movie, Meet the Spartans, etc) were funny for a while but now they're just dragging the concept out way too far.  The only decent comedy I've seen lately was "Role Models" which was pretty funny.

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe I've just got to old, but it seems that most of the stuff out there for the younger generation is just plain stupid.('course I thought that about the Jerry Lewis movies 30 years ago) What with the standards now days, instead of just being stupid, now they can put sex and dirty language in to try and make it funny. And it's still a dumb movie.  gypsyman

This is pretty typical of what comes out of Hollywood anymore.

I don't know about sponge bob, but the muppets vastly outclass this crummy movie.
