I really dig this caliber in my old Mauser's and am interested in a short/handy version in a H&R rifle.  ;)

Not that I recollect other than mine which isn't a carbine tho, it's a 26+" Shilen barreled stub Ultra done by site sponsor Wayne York, he has a 243 Superlight barrel of mine right now to be rebored to .264" for a 260 Rem tho. The only way to get a 6.5x55 is a stub(see FAQ) or rebore a smaller chambered barrel like a 22 Hornet or 223 and rechamber it as well, either way will cost ~$300 plus the cost of the donor parts.

There is a custom Encore barrel for less than that in the GBO classifieds.

I've got the Encore thing narrowed down to my favorite calibers already and would like to give the Handi a spin in the barrel with this caliber. It's pretty sweet in my two Mausers and I have enough press and trigger time with it to feel pretty confident I could come up with an outstanding load with a quality barrel blank like Lilja which happens to be a favorite. Hmmmmm, Vithavouri powder and Lapua bullets......  ;D

I haven't shot any Vihtavouri powder,  all I've shot in it so far is RL22 in Lapua brass and 139gr Lapua Silver Scenar bullets.  ;D

Funny, RL of any configuration around here is pretty sparse and I've never burned any. :D
