300 Win mag

So. I just ordered a 300 win mag from ershaw. And was wondering what load you guys have had success with out of it?

Win brass, Fed 215 primer,75 gr. RL22 & 180 Gr. Nos. BT for Deer & shooting or Accubond for bigger than Deer. This is a classic, proven load that is accurate in most 300WM's it is tried in. I don't like to give powder charges, but is 1/2 gr. under Nos. manual (new manual shows their brass). Please work up slow.
Vel. is usually 3,050-3,100 with a 24-26" tube.

I use RL25 & obtain 3,140fps with a 26" Sendero with great accuracy. Again, work up slow.

The 300WM if a good rifle/barrel is usually easy to work with to obtain good accuracy when compared to other magnums.

71 grains IMR4350 with 180 grain sierra prohunter bullet. good velocity from my remington and excellent accuracy. best group to date is 2.55 inches at 600 yards with a witness. 3 shot group because it is a standard hunting rifle not a heavy barrel target gun.  ed k

I used to use RL22 but after a while it didn't like RL22 so now I use IMR4350. I use 72gr of powder. I gives me 3060 fps with some bullets, With some other bullets go 3100 FPS.

  I have shot  much IMR 4350 with 150-165 grain bullets, the curret barrel in my .300 doesn't permit loading 165's as fast as I like so I switched to Re.22.Right now it would be the powder of choice for me for any bullet from 165 up....Good hot mag. primers also..

In my 300 win I use 77gr RL-22 and 180gr bullets and 75gr RL-22 with 200gr Nosler ABs.  CCI LRMag primers.

I get 3050fps with 180's and 2930fps with the 200's.  Mine's Ruger M-77, tang safety action with a Shilen Premium barrel (24") and a Brown Precision Stock (all put together by Chet Brown in the mid-90's).

I would avoid shoulder shots on deer.

I have only one belted mag, a 300 wby. I don't reload for it that much but I used to read about people having all kinds of problems with brass stretching and stuff and I never encountered that. or I was too dumb to notice it.

I shoot the 180gr SP bullet. It goes 3095 fps. I use IMR 4350 powder. It is one of my favorits.

When I still had mine, I found H4831 to be the powder that my rifle preferred with 180gr bullets. H1000 or IMR 7828 ran neck and neck for second place. Back then, I couldn't find any of the RL powders locally but would have liked to try them.

Thanks Nomo...it is.  I sent the barreled action to them to turn the barrel down on a lathe to a lighter taper as the gun came from Ruger with a very heavy, varmint weight barrel...one of those gun shop deals where the shop bought 5 rifles and got 1 for free, but you didn't get to choose which one (I think it was an Ellet Brothers special).  Paig $230 for the rifle at the time (1986-ish).  Anyway, Chet warned me that it could warp and it did, so he rebarreled it and told me he was going to restock it and since I didn't have the money anyway, he'd take his time and when I finally paid for it, he told me I'd have one really good gun for the rest of my life.  He was right!
