questions on old gun
« on: December 16, 2009, 07:14:37 AM »
I just traded a flyrod for a sears bolt action tube fed .22 rifle. right off I could see that the left extracter was broke off but it looks to be easy to replace.
the action looks like a marlin and it has a very simple trigger/sear arrangement and seems to break at around 2 lbs. or maybe a little more.
my question is about the carrier. is there supposed to be a spring that lifts the carrier?? you can move it up and down, but I figured that the bolt pushed it down and then something should push it back up with the next cartridge to be stripped off by the bolt.
here is the info on the barrel.  mod. 43-103 19811-.22 cal. S,L,LR
thx for any help.

The Numerich cross reference lists that as being a Marlin M81. They list some parts for the series.. Good luck.
