Slow Day
« on: December 15, 2009, 04:45:24 PM »
It's a slow day in a small East Texas Town.

The sun is beating down. The streets are deserted. Times are tough. Everyone is in debt and living on credit.

On this particular day, a rich tourist stops at the Hotel, lays a $100 bill on the desk, and says he is going upstairs to inspect the rooms to see if there is one that suits him.

As soon as the man goes up the stairs, the owner grabs the hundred, and rushes next door to pay his bill at the butcher shop.

The butcher takes the $100 bill, and rushes down the street to satisfy his account with the pig farmer.

The farmer takes the $100 to the Farm Store to pay off his feed bill.

The manager of the farm Co-op takes the $100 to the local "Lady of the evening" to settle his account with her.

She takes the $100 to the Hotel, to pay off her debt for rooms.

The hotel proprieter places the $100 back on the counter, just as the tourist is coming back down.

The traveler states none of the rooms are satisfactory, picks up the $100, and leaves town.

No one produced anything.  No one earned anything.  Yet, everyone in town is now out of debt, and looks to the future with a lot more optimism

And that Ladies and Gentlemen, is how our Government is conducting business today.

That seems to be the economic plan in a nutshell. Except the gov't is taking there cut at every transaction and there is nothing left to put back on the hotel counter.
