Yep thats what I paid for my camo 209-50 a couple weeks ago. Then I decided that one frame would never be enough and had to buy another  :P  The second one was a blue and walnut with a 26" 22-250 barrel only 539.00. Not to mention the 300 win mag barrel I bought and the bullberry 7mm rem mag I have on order :o  Needless to say the wife looks like    but I am having fun

It would not surprise me from a higher price outdoors store.  I over paid for one (blue/synthetic) a year ago.  Demand was very high and it was the only place left to get one so I forked out.  Now with them being used on Realtree Outdoors etc...I am sure the price will be going up.

Blue and wood stock can be had for $500 at a few places around here.  Not sure about the prices on the others.

I picked up my Stainless/black composite  209 X 45 for $490.- about 3 weeks ago up here in the catskills. He charged me $10.- over what it was listed for as his price in the Jerry's Sports Center catalog.

Got an update.  Galyans had one in the paper today for $599 (I modified this post, was off by $100 before, sorry) stainless and camo.  Still seems high though.

Hey ckknight.

I could not figure out your post and then I went back and checked mine.  I fat fingered the keyboard, it is really $599.

I thought for a while that crooked 308 barrel you bought off longshot had you messed up but then I realized it was me.  I would ask you how that crooked barrel shoots but he told me at work the other day that it went under the knife for some surgery.  Sounds like a pretty cool modification to me.  He is a long gun man so he could not understand.  I will convert him someday.

CK,
I have a LOT of rifles with expensive European glass on them, as well as Leupold scopes. It's beginning to look like the low end scopes are getting a lot better in the last few years. So for all practicle purposes, the same Bushnell 3X9 X 40 is what I just put on my  Encore 209 X 45. But mine has the mil dot reticle.  I got the standard aluminum weaver style base but am not really impressed with it. There is an ever so slight gap at the front between the base and the barrel which I got filled with loc-tite.  I should have acra glassed it but was in a hurry. I may just go to your set-up if need be. I like the Zee rings a LOT better than the weaver style crap. Good hunting on the Quota hunt.

Nice looking gun there cknight.  If it had a wood stock it would be perfect, for me that is.  I will tell longshot at work Wednesday that he is crazy if he does not like that set-up.  He will give me the finger (the finger thing is his trademark).  It will be fun!!!!  Good luck with the hunts.

:-D  Sticker shock?  Last year I left the house intent on buying a plain jane walnut/blue T/C encore 209X50... Gander Mt, Cabelas, and Galyans all told me sorry, out of stock (Cabelas went so far as to tell me "If we don't have them, no one will")... one local gun shop (Metro Detroit) had a walnut/blue, but was about $85.00 heavy on his price.

This left me with one option, drive 90 miles to Lansing and visit "Classic Arms", the best blackpowder gun store I have ever seen.  Oh yes, they had several walnut/blue in stock, as well as composite/blue, composite/stainless, and camo/stainless... but the lady behind the counter, being the shrewd salesperson she is, pulled out a Limtited Edition Whitetail Classic II 209x50... Engraved stainless, gray/brown laminate stock, custom shop trigger job, Leupold VXII 3-9X40...

As I tell the story to my wife, I must have slipped in the puddle of my own drool, and lost conciousness... and woke up an hour later $980.00 lighter and in possesion of not only the finest muzzleloader I have ever shot, but one that is almost too pretty to drag in the woods.
Men who feel strong in the justice of their cause, or confident in their powers, do not waste breath in childish boasts of their own superiority and querulous depreciation of their antagonists.
