Idea for a H&R "Set" 45-70 / 20 Gauge Electroless Nickle
« on: December 21, 2009, 05:24:24 PM »
I'm a sucker for shney things and you can't get a 45-70 in nickle or SS so here is my idea.

Buy a new 45-70, have the barrel shortened to 16 or 18" and send it in to have a 20 gauge barrel fitted to it, have it shortened to 18 or 19", fit screw in chokes,.... then send it all to have it electroless nickel coated.

I think it would be sexy//////

Anybody got anything like that made up?

Not true, the SS Ultra Hunter 45-70 is all stainless, then all you need is a shotgun barrel to have nickled.  ;)

Hey Tim, is that stock/forend set from H&R?

I see they have the camo thumbhole stock set listed on their website.  Is the price listed on their website for both the stock and forend?  It doesn't specify.

Thanks, and nice lookin' gun!

Yes, it's a Boyd's who makes them for H&R, price on the acc barrel list is for the stock only, forend is another $33, part number is listed in the FAQs on the retail parts page.

BKS the nice thing about the SS 45/70 is the frame is also stainless not plated also comes on the 444 I believe. A little pricey but...what ya gotta have ya GOTTA have ;D Kurt

PS I think there is already some factory nickel 20ga's out there, would definatley be a shim job to fit if ya finds one.Stainless and blue mix don't look to shabby either ;)
