I got a couple of new to me calls for CHRISTmas. One is a pheasant call, the other for Chuckar, has anybody had any experience or hopefully success with these? I'm very interested in trying these out!!  Tx  Harley

 I got a pheasant call several years ago but I wasn't able to make any sounds that sounded like a pheasant to me. If you can get them to cackle in response to your call at least you know one is in the area. Mine is in my big box of extra calls.  I gave up and there it sits. Sorry.

I couldn't make it sound like a pheasant either!! But then again I didn't hear any pheasants to compare it to!! I'll try it again sometime.  Harley

I have never actually used one of these calls, but I believe the idea is the same as a crow call for a turkey hunter.  Make the cackle, if one cackles back, you know there are birds in the area. Mysef, I prefer to just go hunt, someone is just trying to make a fast buck with these calls and until I see someone sit under a tree and call a pheasant in for a close shot, I'll stick to my traditional ways.  Good luck with the call, let us know how it turns out.
