We started out with some snow yesterday then everything turned to rain. Big sloppy mess out there right now, going to be interesting when it starts to freeze. I'm off work today but the ice might not come till tomorrow when I'm back????

Our beaver season opens tomorrow and we're getting winds and heavy rain. Any hints on catching beaver in flucuating water levels? We're setting 330's in channels and foot holds on feedbeds, but all of these locations will be under high water tomorrow with the rain and melting snow. Going to try some baited pole sets near the feed pile with the trap set up on drowners that go to the bottom of the pole.

When the high water comes, treat the edges of the high water just like you would the waters edge at normal levels.... set up your castor , blind and force sets as usual .  You will be surprised  , you might have to move your sets daily as water (if) goes down but your bvr catches will be  surprising.   Bvr and otter like to explore  the new edges  as they are in the saftey of water  ....and investigate new smells   (castor included)  and  you end up HAVING to get your skinning knives out.....LOL.... good luck.

Today was our opener for beaver here in ohio and we set up on a creek with plenty of beaver sign. The thing that gets me though was that I didn't find any castor mounds. I always thought they kept castor mounds going all year to keep their territory marked. I set up the channels with 330's and made a couple castor sets as well as some mink and rat sets as there was plenty of sign of both. Water is high, but going down so like RdFx said, we'll be moving sets tomorrow.
