The Complete Cannoneer
« on: December 24, 2009, 03:40:02 AM »
I been trying to locate "The Complete Cannoneer" or "The More Complete Cannoneer" on the net.  "The Complete Cannoneer" sells for $35 while "The More Complete Cannoneer" is $195.  How does the content of the two books differ?

Would it be worth approaching the publisher to print additional copies of "The More Complete Cannoneer"?

Parrott-Cannon,
I have a copy of "The More Complete Cannoneer" that I bought about 11 years ago.  It is in brand new condition.  It is a Third Edition printed in 1990.  I don't remember what I paid for it but I'm sure it wasn't expensive.  I don't have a copy of "The Complete Cannoneer" so I can't compare them.
Have you tried Amazon used books?  This book shouldn't be that expensive.

I just checked Amazon.  $195 for a used book.  Unbelievable!

The Author of the More  Complete Cannoner, Matt Switlik is currently working on then newest up date. Matt recently retired and had the book update as one of his retirement projects originally scheduled for 2008.  As I found out when I retired, other projects quickly got in the way.

Norm Gibson "Artlleryman" an old time regular here on the board knows Matt and is part of the Loomis Battery with Matt.  I have asked Norm to keep us up to date on the status of of the next update. Here is his website.

Zulu is that  "has" or "had"?  Last time I check South Bend it was "had" past tense.

I guess I am going to have to put my Complete Cannoneer and More Complete Cannoneer in the vault now that they are so valuable.

We were promised a new edition at least a year ago. New people coming into the hobby are at the mercy of the retailers.

$195 for a $20 book, that's ridiculous, but I guess that's free enterprise at work.

If and when the new edition comes out, these insane prices will end (maybe).
