New speer pistol bullets!!!
« on: December 26, 2009, 04:16:13 PM »
Any one read or hear anything on these>

Specifically the 32cal 115Gr GDHP and the 357cal 170Gr DSSP.

I have checked the Speer site and there is general info but nothing specific...

I have had very good experiences with the GD line especially SP's in hunting med big game at close distances. I'm hoping that the 357 will be a good candidate in my Maximum. The 32 looks like it will not fit the bill in the top velocities of my 32/20 rifle. But time will tell... I'm looking for a bullet in this range to 125Gr as I have a faster twist than the std 1:20. 150's are too big, vel too low as its really incroaching on powder capacitys. The 123/5gr made for the 7.62x39 is OK but I have yet to shoot any game with it. The bearing surface in the new 115gr is more than the 123/5 gr's I'm loading now.

I've been testing the 115g in the .327 and .32 H&R. Does well in both of them, developed for the .327.

The 170g GDSP is Excellent. We are running it in both the .357 Mag and .357 Max. It performs great at both power levels.

GREAT NEWS!!  I have a couple loads loaded up in the 32/20 @ mid 1500 fps. The "designed for the 327 Federal" on the box is what prompted the question. I see that its possible to attain 1500fps (in the books anyway)

As for the 357 bullets, I have the 357GDSP, I have shot at least one deer with them and they work well at 2100fps, but I am interested in the new 170 DSSP bullet. Whats the differences and what prompted its reality? I assume its n improvement over the GDSP?
