Well when I got bit by the handirifle bug I needed a pistol cartridge rifle for my 8 yr old grandson to hunt deer with. He wound up with a .357 mag with a youth stock. When we started shooting it I realized that his younger brother would soon be in the market for his own gun and my dealer owed me a favor so picked up another one. Then I got to reading about how great the 357 maximum was and bought the late Alan Grant's rifle. My son's 1100 slug gun went south and he wound up hunting with the maxi on opening weekend. My grandson bagged a nice doe during the youth weekend and my son killed a 4 pointer on opening morning. The rifles and cartridges performed perfectly. I went down to the gunshop the other day and he had a used as new .44 mag just sitting there. So of course it went home with me. Load developement to follow. I already own several Nef shot guns. I also have a couple SMI smokeless muzzleloading barrels and a slug gun. The 357 max is every bit as sweet as everyone hyped it to be. Low recoil, excellent accuracy, and deadly on deer. I am sure the 357 magnums are going to be converted soon. I probably don't need any more handis but am addicted. So beware, it is catching.
