357 Maxi scores
« on: January 03, 2010, 01:12:39 PM »
Shot a young 8 pointer (160lbs) yesterday at about 75yds.  The maxi was dead on.  Entered the right side just behind the shoulder, hit a wide part of a rib, pierced the heart and exited on the left.  The 180gr hornady SSP left a larger entrance wound than exit.  This is probably from the soft nose pistol bullet hitting the wide part of a rib dead center.  He still ran about 70 yds.  Good blood trail though.  They are some kind of tough.

This was my first deer with the maxi, it is such a joy to shoot and handle.  Virtually no recoil, low muzzle blast, I think I love it! ;D

Would like to try some 180 gr XTPs, but everyone seems to be out.

Bobby
Oh yeah, close to full house load of 1680 on a sb1 frame, no problems whatsoever.
