talk about price differences!
« on: December 28, 2009, 08:56:00 AM »
OK at gander mountain looked at 2 different 223 rifles. Both appeared "new". price on the NEF rifle was 279.00 price on the exact same rifle H&R was 349.00 both looked exactly the same, same barrel, same pallet wood, both had blued (not case hardened) receivers. I verfied the side of the rifle. these did not include mounts or scopes. How in the heck can you get a 70.00 price difference on the same rifle ::) if if slightly used 70.00 can buy alot of ammo :o

Seems like the longer it goes the worse remington consolidation plan is getting.......... :o

I would speculate it has to do with the price they paid for hem. A lot f places simply mark up ALL stock when a price bump comes along, and others reference the price paid for the inventoried item.

Did you question them as to why there was a difference?
Even the $279 is high. My dealer has them for $239.

It's all a matter of where you look, bargains are out there if you look around.

Bud's has the 357/20ga combos for $270 shipped!

Same for the 243, 270 and 30-06/20ga combos.

I did not question them on it. I typically purchase used ones from a large gun shop, in the next town over. they are around 225.00 I keep an eye of gander mountain every once in a while deals do come up, it just caught me off guard....

My step-son just bought a Handi 45-70 at the local Walmart for $240.00 with iron sights. They had 3 in stock. The 2 local pawn shops & a local sporting goods store have the same gun, with prices ranging from $280 - $310.

Sounds like a good price if it's been taken care of...

My local WM wants $297 for a Handi .243 w/scope. That seems high to me when you can buy a Marlin XS7 .243 w/scope for $293. I love the idea of the barrel swaps for relatively cheap but they sure seem priced high IMO.
