Hey ironglow I got a crosman quest 1000!
« on: December 26, 2009, 04:17:47 AM »
Man I'm happy with this one! My wonderful wife bought me a Quest 1000 for Christmas! The local gun smith could not get an 800 in 22cal. So she got me this 1000 in .177cal. instead. I really have to say it's alot of gun for the money! much more than what I expected. I remember checkin out one of these quest 1000's a few year ago, an thats what I was expecting inside the box. Not so my friend! Its a big improvement! This one has a very well made nicely figured hardwood stock! great fiber optic open sights! well done deep blued metal work! a rubber butt pad! And its not overly big! I've handled some of the older full size air rifles, an they are big guns. This however feels more closer to a mod. 700 Remington, or a Savage bolt action, something like that. Anyway, The real test will come in the shooting! I'll let you know! Have a great holiday! scout4<><

I hope you have good luck with your Quest 1000!

I finally had to give up on mine.  It looked good, but it shot poorly.  I think the barrel lock-up was defected and no one was able to resolve the problem.  I finally just gave it to a kid.  I have about 25 air guns and my Quest was the worst of the lot.  Maybe it was just luck of the draw.

Hey AirCajun! Thanks for your reply! I tell ya, so far this gun is shooting very well for me, everything working just the way it should. First time shooting it the pellets where a little high, made adjustments an got the the pellet hitting more near center, made adjustment, next 2 shots went right into the bulls eye about 1 inch apart! an that was from standing shooting off hand at about 25 paces. I figured that to be pretty dog gone good! Thanks! scout4<><

First I bought a Quest .22 and I like it for indoor target shooting with open sights. Then I found a Quest 1000 .17 for sale in the Cabela's Bargain Cave so I bought it but haven't shot it yet.
As long as they're working right I think that every airgun is a lot of fun.
If you read the manual it says to lube the chamber every so many shots with the special Crosman chamber oil. I ended up buying the RWS chamber oil before I shot mine much because I read a post where someone didn't lube theirs and it didn't last more than a year. So I lube mine often because I think that it will help it last longer. I think that the seals are not the same as the expensive German guns have so it's better to follow the Crosman instructions and buy some chamber lube. They should include some in the box but they don't. So don't forget to buy some or put it away until you get some so you don't wear it out prematurely. Crosman did a warranty fix on another gun of mine already but at least it wasn't the seals. The RWS chamber oil is silicone and I don't think that it's much different. But you certainly get a lot more for the money because it's a much larger container.  After it goes in then it diesels and burns off quickly.
