Big hole

Down the road from my office they have been digging a hole with dozers,
excavators and all forms of machinery for quite a while. They have a pile
of dirt 50-60 foot tall that cover 2-3 acres, three different colors of earth.
Well i have ask and ask and no one i can find can say what it is about, after
reading some of the post here about rail cars built to haul people to prisons
and the Military going to kill us all off, it can only be a giant grave for the
bodies of folks in Ft. Worth and Dallas TX. of course they will have to dig
more cause their ae lots of folks here.

Ask a local truck driver, especially if they have a dump bed, they will know all about it. No one is as nosey as a truck driver, or as prone to gossip.

Any chance they are mining for minerals?

The ones I've seen have usually been for mining a particular kind of sand that's good for construction. Is it on a sand plain?

Around here holes like that end up being basements . Some 4-5 floors deep . Or sometimes a landfill ! Might check building permits in the area .

Next door to my office is a rock hauler they no not, nothing has been hauled off
just piled up.
it is sand and black dirt, you know how when they dig they go threw different
colors of dirt.
they haul all the sand and gravel in from about 50 miles northwest of here.
It could be a basement, but no buildings that size around here
this area is in the big rail/warehouse area, Bass Brothers, Perot and some other
nasty rich working on making this a rail hub.
right across the highway from this they are building a large natural gas
compression station.
down the road about 1/2 mile is railroad.

Take some pics and post them if you can. I have been trying to get close to the area of our closed base here that has 2 large incinerators  but I get turned around by armed guards every time I get within a few miles of the site. I have been able to locate it using satellite photos from the sprint GPS location system. I have been thinking about taking a walk through the woods and see if I can come in on the back side of it but have not yet figured out the best way without trespassing on government property.

Any rolls  of membrane like plastic on site ? Sounds more like a landfill . Here they dig a hole place a layer of gravel then a layer of sand a layer of menbarne . they do this for several layers to keep seepage into the ground water from happening. When it rains they pump it into trucks and haul it off to be evaporated into the air .

Thay are looking for Hoffa.       Not sure what it's like by you but land is so valuable in downtown Las Vegas that they dig 2 and 3 story deep parking garages under the new buildings.

If this is in an incorporated municipality or county I would think some sort of permits are needed. Call the local city /county planner's office, or go to the hole site and look for posted permit. Get the permit # if posted and check with municipal offices. Usually some sort of public notice has to be published too. Or seek the foreman and ask.
