Ghost Ring set-up for Hawkeye ??
« on: January 07, 2010, 05:23:52 AM »
Not sure if this has been posted or discussed, couldn't seem to find it.

I currently have a ghost ring sight set-up on a Marlin 1895G and my NEF Huntsman, and am very pleased with them, and would like a similar set-up on my Hawkeye International.
I know there is a peep sight option for NECG, but I am looking for something with a wider field of view for quicker shots.

Any suggestions?  Or, is it possible to bore out the hole on a NECG for a similar sight picture?

Thanks a lot-

When the NECG peep aperture is bored too big, the flat sides of the insides of the sight body limit the sight picture to each side.

IIRC, the XS backup peep is now made for Sako dovetails - Why not speak to them, and see if they'll make one for  Ruger dovetails ?

IIRC, xs sights had a backup sight for Ruger but it required drilling a hole.  I had an NEGC sight on a #1 in 7.62 x 39 and I was happy with it.

Cool, did you find the NECG was open enough for getting on target quickly? Close-up or moving game?
Thanks
