A max 162 gr. in a 280 handi ?
« on: January 01, 2010, 03:12:29 PM »
Has anyone shot the Hornady 7mm- 162 gr. A max bullet in there 280 handi and have great accuracy ?
I have a 280 handi that I would like to try on long range antelope using the 162 A max, I looked at the bullets and the box says they require a 1 in 8 twist to stabilize them so I have not bought any yet.
They have a .625 BC  and have been used on medium game with reported great results.
Sometimes things work well even though they are not suppose to so thats why I am asking if they will shoot accurately in a 280 handi barrel ? Anybody like them ?    Thanks,   Jed

Got this from Hornady's website:

A-Max: "*Match bullets are not recommended for hunting medium & large game."

Want high BC - try Berger VLD's.   7mm 168 gr is 617 bc.  They have one's designed for hunting.

I want to try some of these in my 7mag.
