I have both and really haven't given it much thought because I use them all single action anyway.
Like Millwright, I use Single Action when I'm hunting. A Model 29, shot Single action worked for years.
Now days I carry single actions. I've traded off most of my double action hunting pistols.
A 4 5/8" single action W/O a scope, carries well and points well. I tend to leave the scoped pistols in the gun cabinet. A 7 1/2" in a cross draw holster is great for hunting, but, It's not my first choice for bumming around. I can truthfully say I am never aware of cocking my single actions.
I don't believe I've spooked many animals with the sound.
