Did you always want to see The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall but just couldn't make it out to Washington DC? Well, now, you can see the Wall right from the comfort of your computer. At the Virtual Wall, you can look up fallen soldiers by Last Name, State, Military Unit, etc., and you will be provided with a short profile of the soldier. You can then click an option for a full profile. In addition, you can click on an option that shows you a close up of the name as it appears on the Wall. The short profile shows all the medals and patches worn by the soldier. The full profiles shows much more detail. Following is an example of a full profile. The soldier listed was the brother of one of my best friends. I removed his Name, City, and ID Number, because I didn't ask the family if I could display his info:

I have never seen The Wall, but did get to see the traveling  Wall several years ago.
They had a info. booth where you could find out on which part of it was the person you were looking for.Some anti war B---h was standing on a little walk bridge over a pond, running he mouth when 2 guys picked her up and thru her in the pond. Sheriffs deputies
got there about that time and asked what happen. NO BODY SAW ANYTHING. They carted her off for safe keeping.

This is good information about a great website.  A few years ago, I got a phone call, out of the blue, from an old OCS classmate, informing me that the guys were trying to find everyone they could in order to set up a reunion.  Most of us hadn't seen or heard from each other since graduation in 1967.  One of our TAC officers, back in the day, was a particularly sadistic individual, and shortly after graduation a rumor went around (believed by most, because it was really believable) that this LT had been sent to Vietnam, and was subsequently fragged. Well, we looked him up on this "wall" website, and lo and behold, did NOT find his name listed anywhere. We concluded that he had not been listed as a casualty.  He had such an odd name that we were able to locate him via other websites.  Turns out he was retired from the military, and had mellowed over the years, as had we all.  Sad to say, in a way, soldiers, sailors, and marines of that era can surf this website to find out exactly what may have happened to long-lost buddies.  Or on a more positive note, as in our case, to discover that they actually survived their tours.

I have been there a few years ago with my oldest son and his high school class as a chaperon.
Standing there and standing over the ARIZONA MEMORIAL in PEARL was the two most humbling experiences I have ever had in my life!

I will visit the Virtual Wall also.

well, just got done looking up people in my home town, saw a guy got a DSC, never kew we had something like that here. Thanks for the link.
