Cast Bullet Practice Loads
« on: January 23, 2010, 04:36:46 AM »
Anybody else do this? I use a Lyman "M" die to resize my .357 Herrett necks and shoot 158gr cast SWC's for practice. For load data I start with the lowest listed .35 Remington loads and drop it one grain. They're cheaper than full-house loads, have less recoil, but they're plenty accurate to 50 yards. This lets me practice with the same setup I use for hunting. And I can share the same bullets & powder with my M19 Smith.

I shoot cast lead in my 357 Herret all the time.  I've even loaded full "wadcutters" in mine.  Looks really funny, but very accurate!  You might invest in a manual from Loadbooks USA for lots of load data for the 357 Herret, both cast lead and jacketed bullets.
