New 223 Handi; now the questions
« on: January 02, 2010, 09:14:22 AM »
think it's a 1-12 twist (wanted a 1-9 for heavy bullets-had trouble slugging it). What's the heaviest bullet that should go out the tube straight?  Plan on using it for yotes & training my boys.

Already reloading for an AR; I have H335 & WW748, plus 55gr SP's.
;probably gonna shoot V-Max or other varmit type bullets. What bullet do ya'll like for yotes?

Got that & a 30-30 bbl. in a sweet trade.

thanks in advance.

I ounce had a Remington M788 in .223 I foolishly let go.  Was a tack driver like they often were/are.

It had a 1-12 twist and shot the 63grn Sierra semi-spitzer and 70grn Speer semi-spitzer quite accurately!  I killed mule deer with reloads with both bullets.

The 70grainers were loaded to around @2950fps, and comepletely passed through the deer leaving a tennis ball sized hole under the hide and spraying hair for at least ten feet.
The Sierra was a bit too fragile for killing deer.
