Good day at the Austin Gun Show
« on: February 20, 2010, 01:01:13 PM »
It was a clock work day.
Left the house at 5:30 am and was in the show by 9 am.
Found a Smith, NIB, .327 for $750 and they gave me $650 for the FN.
Was out of there by 10:30/11 and looked at every booth.
Small show but it was a good show. Lots of weapons and large booths--most were not mom/pop.
Makes me wounder why I didn't ask $750---don't look back Bill.
I am very happy.
Blessings

I didn't even know Smith made a .327.

Are you sure it wasn't a Winchester or something?
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!

Sorry I could not make the Austin show William, might go to the George R Brown show this weekend, if i'm not mistaken about that venue.

I thought they canceled the Austin, TX shows for the time being, they were at the Crocket Convention Center and then the police came down on them for people selling guns to others without background checks.  The Saxet website does not show anything happening in Austin right now, just San Antonio and Conroe.

I stopped going last October as these shows cost $7.00 to get in and there was hardly anything there.

Had a good show in Abilene, Tx this past week-end.  Prices seem to be falling on guns and ammo, there were lots of really high quality collector items there, most at a very reasonable price.  Under the current circumstances with my health I didn't buy anything, I did discuss selling a few.

I miss the Austin show. San Antonio is just to far to drive.  :'( I bought my Ruger Blackhawk 45 colt/45 acp from it a couple of years ago, new in box for $400.

I make a lot of the gun shows in my area (Southwest Wyoming, Salt lake City....) and it seems like the last year has seen a lot of changes in our shows. I'd say 95% of the guns are new and half the show is taken up by crafts and imported junk. The last show I went to down in Salt Lake was a tribute to Taiwan. Most of the fun for me was to see all the used guns, some dating way back. Now that it's almost all new, it ain't the same.
Perception is everything. For instance, a crowded elevator smells different to a midget.
