Any one here?
« on: February 09, 2010, 03:14:38 AM »
I got back from AZ. a week ago to the worst weather for being out in the woods I have seen it this state in a very long time. I spent a month in Phoenix and they had record breaking rain and lower than normal temps. I am begining to think it may be me! :-[ Is any one able to get out and do any calling? I am wanting to go after hogs but if this keeps up I will need a snow mobile or bass boat to do it. If this keeps up I will have gator hunts in the back yard this summer. I will have to go to the gun show this weekend just to get out of the house. ;D Is any one else having cabon fever as bad as I am? :P

So am I, but it's not happening for me this year. I went last year with oldyardog and about six other guys. We all had one hell of a time even with none of us getting a hog. Saw a lot of sign though. Those hills and brush at Big South Fork sure can take their toll, but even in his mid 60s, oldyardog really held his own hunting with a lot of much younger guys. I'd be right proud to be able to do what he can at his age. I'm already proud to call him my friend.

Yeah that's what I thought.
You guys would really like the snow were getting up here. I just went out and measured it at 15" and still coming down.

Well I was forced to go to the gun show Sunday. I ended up bringing a BL-.22 grade 11 home. A stranger forced it on me (the asking price was to good). I gave it to the wife but she was not inpressed (she likes clothes and other silly things). I hope that isn't going to happen this coming weekend as there is another show in Nashville. The weather needs to get better for going in the woods before I go broke going to gun shows.

I had sort of the same experience with my wife.  I bought a stainless ruger old army for myself for a followup shot during ML season for christmas this year and I showed it to her and she acted like she did not even care.  What's up with that?

I went to the last gun show in Nashville and I was disappointed.  If you weren't interested in AR's or pistols, there was no reason to go.  There were only a couple of AK's and SKS's and there were no old military bolt action rifles.  Not the same gun show that I used to have to go to whenever it came to town.

That seems to be the whay it is going. I went to a show in Phoenix when I was out there. Bigest gun show I had been to in many years. I would say it was 70% black rifles. Made our local prices look ALMOST resonable. If any one knows of a .22mag lever gun at a reasonable price let me know. That is the last long gun I am looking for.
