model 700 sps 308 varmint ?

picked up one of these  in 308....says it has a 1-12 twist bbl....last long distance 308 i had as a 1-10 shot 168 gr. bullets very well..this one isnt quite as accurate....should i be loading a heavier or a lighter bullet for this twist bbl??? thanks deckape

 1 in 12 should favour your lighter bullets IMHO.  Some say the ten twist is better for velocity due to less friction.  I'd say you would maybe vary the makes of the bullets and see if one name prints better the another.

You should be able to get up to "some" 190gr bullets to stabilize in a 1/12 twist.  155-168 should prove accurate to the barrels potential given the proper load workup.  Not to forget every barrel and load/bullet workup is unique unto itself!

what do you consider " isnt quite as accurate" .. what kind of groups are you getting at what yardage ?
