ramrod question
« on: January 03, 2011, 06:52:07 PM »
bought huntsmans in 58 & 45 cal. the ramrods are pretty crappy on both as y'all probably know better than i do. questions are: how are the hubbard's different and are they worth the price for the upgrade? have seen them talked about but not really explained. thanks neighbors, bubba.

the hubbard rod is made of naval brass.  Much more solid.  You can also use most standard tips on it for cleaning.  He stands behind his product. IMHO worth every penny.

You won’t be disappointed, very solid feel to the rod.  You can even ask for a wooden handle so it looks like a factory rod.

bubba.50,

Mr. Hubbard is a good man to deal with.  He shipped the ramrod to me and I got to inspect it BEFORE i had to send him my payment.  I am very happy with his product and hope to put it to good use the Saturday on opening day of Ohio's MZ season.

There's more info on the Hubbard rod in the FAQs sticky above if you didn't see it, all of the previous stickys were consolidated into that one page, it's not just a link to the FAQs.  ;)

Only thing I tweaked on mine was to slip a small o-ring over and past the loading jag and onto the threads where the two section join when retracted.  Holds it nice and snug with minimal tightening.
