Musket caps

I normally use my Omega but I do have a Rem 700 ML. I am OK without 209's for the 700. Are musket caps hotter? Can you use the same nipple? I may use the old 700 some next year.

According to the books I've read, musket caps are hotter and/or throw more flame than #11's but not as much as a 209. They do take a larger nipple than the #11. I use them on my TC System 1 and all I had to do was swap out the nipple (from TC). Not sure on the Rem.

I've used all three. Musket caps take a bigger nipple than 11's and are hotter, however my experience has been they are not reliable shooting pellets. I wouldn't hesitate to use musket caps with loose powder, worked well for me in the past.

I shoot only loose powder so I should be OK. I will get a musket nipple.
