I was sighting in my 12/9.3x74r combo gun using the cedar to hold the target.

You can't tell a bullets expansion shooting into a tree , been there done that. Even .45acp gold dots won't expand in something that hard.

They're marketed for dangerous game protection. I have them in my 1187 when in grizzly country.  They're pretty accurate tough slugs.

I know that the foster slug will expand readily on impact....which is why it often fails on big hogs.   The expansion reduces penetration and a big and/or dangerous game animal has their vitals deep.    Using a hardcast slug like Brenneke you start with a big hole and end up with a big hole.
