First TC G2 and first kill
« on: January 04, 2010, 12:37:50 PM »
Long story short....I shot my brothers TC G2 44Mag during my Thanksgiving visit back home in NC.  Needless to say; I had to have one after shooting it so I spent about three weeks on-line researching and ended up with a mint TC G2 44 Mag with a 12" barrel and a 2X Burris scope.  I have not been in the woods in close to six years with a firearm because of my passion for bow hunting but the pistol was very intreging and even more of a challenge trying to shoot it with any accuracy @ 80 yards.  It is not as easy as my brother made it out to be.  Needless to say I shot it several time and got a little confidence up and took it hunting this weekend.  I ended up killing a cow horn buck at 20 yards.  I was amazed at how hard a factory loaded Hornady 240 grain XPT smacked that buck....actually knocked it down. After that it got back up and stumbled for 10 yards and dropped like a rock.  I have a lot of practice to put in but I am very happy with my fist pistol kill.

Congrats on the "Whack and pack"     I have yet to confirm a kill with mine-7x30 Waters, but shooting steel plates and paper targets at 100 yds.the way mine does has made me a firm believer in the hunting handgun.

Thanks for the replies....After bow hunting for so long it was a nice twist to the quest.  I think that I will actually enjoy hunting with a handgun and will still be able to keep my mancard....lol  It was not much of a buck but i was not about to pass on anything legal for the first kill.

Pozoutdoors: that is a huge bow kill on your avitar....what did it score?
