Come on up Will!
You'll need a couple hundred pounds of sand in the back of the country cadillac!!.  We are in the cold part of the year.  A couple inches of snow on the ground, but this danged cold is what does it.  Zero this morning!
I use to work offshore in Sabine Pass back in the late 80's had a good ole time down there.  Y'all have some nice country in the piney woods.  My aunt and uncle are in Beaumont.  They own the subways there after he lost his job as prez of Silsbee savings and loan.  I hunted on the typeII lands in the piney woods.  Miss it too!  I am trying to get down there next year.  My best friends parents are in Port Arthur...Thibodeaux's...crazy ole coon asses!  Best time i ever had! :D

Picture of a ice fishing shanty for when the water gets hard (and cold!), potawatomi falls,Nice short horn heifer, and

It was a cold one last year, and we still had ice on lake superior into June.  Ya just get used to it after awhile, but it does get old somedays.  That's why we got them ice shanty's to get out on the "hard" water and get some crappie and perch...I use to fish off the back of the boat in Sabine and catch a boat load of them speckled trout.  That was fun going offshore and anchoring just to fish off a rig somewhere.  We would catch flat heads 10-15 miles out!  The gulf is just like the great lakes...respect it cause it can kick your butt from time to time.  I got friends in matagorda, freeport, one's got one foot on the porch the other in the gulf. :-D

I grew up in west virginia and northern michigan.  I just worked down there those two years offshore.  I was in the Coast Guard and got stationed back up here.
Here is a picture of my apple eating newfoundland pup this morning in the blizzard.

thats a good picture. amazing to learn that your winters start as early as they do. i'm almost certain i could not handle it. i 'm sure you remember it but it is still in the 80's down here-well this morning it is down to the upper 60's but will get to close to the 80's this afternoon.
