« on: February 09, 2010, 09:51:41 AM »
i have a 26 inch ss 30-06 barrel and it's relativly new.maybe i've fired 50 shots through it. sometimes the ejector wont pull the brass out and sometimes the bullet when it has'nt been fired.. what would be the cause of this..i have a 22-250 barrel and the ejector works fine on it,never had a case where it would'nt pull the shell out.are there adjustments i don't know about or will i have to get a replacement ???
i wish i was just half the man, that my dog thinks i am

Are you a handloader?  If so, you might have an issue with the brass getting stuck in the chamber, possibly needing a full-length resize on the brass.  I once had some 7.62x39 brass that kept sticking.  Come to find out, I had reloaded it so many times that it wouldn't take a good resize, thus causing to to stick in the chamber almost every time.

You might look to make sure that the chamber isn't dirty, this will cause them to stick occaisionally.  Give it a good cleaning and see if that helps.

There is a spring on the extractor (it isn't really an ejector) that is weak and needs to be replaced.  If you know how to do it yourself, I'm sure T/C would send you a spring.  Otherwise, send the barrel to T/C and I've sure they'll get it working fine for you as they did for me.  You have to pay shipping to them but the return shipping and work on the barrel was free.

Only the barrels for rimless cartridges have spings(like the 30-06).  The spring is easy to remove and can be bent (with the curvature) to slighly increase the pressure it puts on the extractor.  That's the only adjustment I know of. ;)
