I heard him recite it as part of a public radio broadcast. I knew that Edgar Guest would have serious competition eventually,  but I never expected it to be from an ex vice president. (Edgar Guest is known as the archetype of the bad American poet. The rhyme "I'd rather fail my Wasserman Test that read the poems of Edgar Guest" is an old college humor pearl.)
