I read a good report about the new mod 70 and the price is about the same as the last ones winchester made , and you can't go wrong with a 308 in any rifle , try one , it should be a great gun FBC

my gunsmith bought one for himself, and it shot very well. he is using the new Winchester actions to build rifles on, so I suspect they are pretty good.
If they made the new model 70 in 9.3 x 62 I could justify one! I have a Kimber Montana in 308 that I am happy with myself.

I am a fan of the M70 Winchester and I like them for many reasons including thier excellent design safety that locks the firing pin on safe and also allows a hot chamber to be unloaded on safe. The old and current ones have CRF and are made in the USA.
I have had M70's since the 50's and have a battery of them. I hunt with the 308 Featherweight the most.
Its good to see the M70 back. I have looked at a few of the new ones in stores recently. I find their safeties hard to work with my thumb and to have a sharp edge. On a couple of them the bolt lift was difficult with the pin down but the last one I tried cocked easy.
Now I am old and I am using the ultralight Kimbers more.
I would look at the Ruger 77 and the Kimber 84M also. All good guns.
