COuld somebpody please explain to me about the initials cuts on a coon. I can't get it in my rock hard head how to cut the window and get the legs peeled off to the waist. Are there two initial cuts to be made?

Lay the coon on its back on a skinning table. Wring around both back legs at the ankle (cut the fur all away around to the meat. Now, with the coon laying on his back, insert your knife at the ankle cut in the middle of the leg, and cut a straight line to the p-e-n-i-s or to where the p-e-n-i-s would be on a female.  Now peel the skin free from both back legs.

Now it is easier to hang the coon by both back legs. Free fur to base of tail- cut around the anus, and remove tail bone (spilt, use tail puller). Now PULL pelt down to fron legs, cutting free any big ridges of fat, etc.

Work pelt around front legs, wring fur at mid point and pull legs free.

Now pull, cut until 1/2 of ears showing. Cut striaght across middle of exposed ear on both sides. Now put your fingers in the ear holes and pull, cut. The knife will show you the eyes- cut on the nose side of eye at lower part similar to ear but BELOW eye. Pull. Cut off pelt where it is about mid jaw- then carefull trim, pull around nose. Cut off 1/2 of caralidge of nose.

Now turn fur side out- wash off- I spray with hose and wring out. Then shake a few times and hang up to dry. Overnight usually works and you can use a fan.  Then flesh and stretch or freeze to sell green. Hope this helps.
