Tan Ivory Micarta
« on: May 07, 2009, 04:44:02 PM »
I was looking at GunBroker and saw some beautiful grips, the add called them Tan Ivory Micarta

Who do you think made these? How long do they take to fit them to your grip frame?

This picture may show the grain in the micarta a little better - they are nice:

I don't know if FA retrofits it to existing gripframes, or only to new orders.  A supply issue.

That's what FA put on their 25th Anniversary guns. It is available on retro fits, as long as it lasts.

I just ordered a set for my Model 83 they'll be working on shortly.  Cost for tan is $305 versus $270 for black.

I had a set of ivory micarta retro-fitted to a Mdl. 252 a couple of months ago, and really like them.

I thought this (ivory micarta) was to be a regular option. Stupid question ....but does anyone know what kind of supply FA has left and should I place my order soon...do you think a few months I will be out of luck??? Time to dust off those crystal balls?

I bought some ivory micarta 25 or 30 yrs. ago and have a Stainless SBK and a knife with matching grips.  They were more ivory colored at the time I made them but now they are the exact color of the ones pictured, kindsa like old ivory.  I think I still have two blocks of it.

I spoke with John today at FA and he clarified the difference between tan and ivory micarta grips:  there is no difference.  There is only the antique ivory or tan color.  So that's what I have coming on my next order.
