Browning BAR

Hey everyone. Has anyone ever chronographed your loads or factory ammo for that matter and compared them to the stated velocity in the manuals? I know stated velocities are from test or pressure barrels. I was just curious how much velocity loss one can expect from a autoloader as compared to a bolt gun ???

I rarely use bolts, however, I graphed 30-06 loads in a Remington 760 against a Remington 742, and got results within 1 fps with the same load.  I also graphed .308 loads betweek my BAR and my Winchester 88, and got results that averaged within about 20 fps.  I don't recall which gun graphed faster.

Generally, I've found factory ammo to run between 60 and 100 fps slower than advertised (except for 170 grain 30/30 loads that ran about 300 fps slower than advertised).
Hunting is Exciting!  Bolt actions are BORING!!
Don't mix the two!
