Anxious for next spring thaw
« on: December 03, 2009, 09:44:40 AM »
Plan on getting either the Tesoro Vacquero or the Tejon soon, pull out the old sluice box and pan this coming spring. Getting back into an old habit of hunting the Wyoming hills after the spring thaw.

Me too, Have a young lad visiting with me last two years. He found specks of gold in the driveway, just a few, now wants to check the gravel pit where the stones came from. I think it will be interesting. Not much gold in NY state so I've been told. It must be just a trace. Its fun to see his excitement.
He wants me to buy a metal detector, but I don't know a thing about them.

While on leave during the summer went online and orderd a couple new pans and screens, they've been sitting around waiting for spring, can't wait too get them on the yellowstone and up to the north, not to much in south east montana, but always fun to get the first thaw.

Never done the tounge by billings, around miles city though there's a lot of black sand so if your down there you would need at least a high banker to be able to move enough dirt. the waters useally pretty low so its hard to set a sluice box up and running.

In the mid 80s,when Montgomery Ward was in business,I bought a Bounty Hunter.
Paid around $500.00-550.00.
Still has 24 hours or less on it.Keep forgetting about it is why.
When I was on TreasureNet,I didn't say a word about my MD.
Over there, they almost rave about the Bounty Hunter.
Some has said,it is about the "top-of-the-line".
Tesoro's,Garrett's are good too.
You guys have a great and Happy New Year. ;D

I broke down and bought him a bounty hunter from Herb Philipson's. It was what he wanted.  His dad passed away a couple years ago and I promised to look after him. He's says he gets a reading from one of the bags of sand on the back of his pickup. Now he's hoping for an early spring so he can go throgh them.
