For hi speed target rifle loads Linotype is fine as long as your rifle likes it. I use a softer mix for hunting and get 2000 FPS from Lyman #2 alloy or ACWW's. I shot in several competitions with a .45ACP and used wheel weight alloy for the bullets. None of the problems normally ascribed to using "soft" alloys occurred. I am NOT the most accurate shot with the .45,but my scores were about the same as my "hardball" scores. As LLoyd says ,It is too valuable to waste. However, Lino makes a great mixer for softer lead alloys.
