what powder

What powder have you guys had good luck with in the 45acp/45lc loads getting started need to decide which powders to try any help would be appreciated thank you in advance.

two different cartriges that id recomend two differnt powders for. Acps for target shooting get mostly fed bullseye at my house and 45 colt plinkers usually get unique or something in that burning range. I guess a guy could use something like 231 and take care of both of them

Unique will work for both. It's not the best for both but you will do OK. I use Bullseye for target loads in the 45 ACP with 200 gr LSWC. I used to kill a few deer with the hard cast 200 gr SWC and 7 grs Unique (1000 fps) in the 45 ACP. Unique does really well with Jacketed bullets that you want full power.  8 to 9 grs Unique with a 250 gr lead bullet in the 45 Colt is about the standard loading.

I've had good luck using Unique with 45 Colt. Works well with both cast and jacketed.

can not argue with unique its great . i also burn a lot of ww231 with all my pistols.

I've had good luck with the unique as well.
For my plinking rounds I tend to go with bullseye.
More economical, but you need to pay more attention.
Easy to miss or double charge with such a small weight.

For plinking loads Bullseye for both. For hot loads in the lc eather H-110 or Win-296. ( same powder different names)

I completely agree!! 
 
 Al tho Bullseye is the first choice for the ACP. At least it has been for many years shooting bullseye. Recently I started shooting AA#2 as couple years back a good friend gave me four pounds of it.  ;D It shoots very well!!

WW630 WAS my favorite in the long colt shooting model "P" level loads. Alas its not available any longer, Unique has been THE 45COLT powder. So much so, its was the only owner offered in some 60's & 70's era loading manuals.

I have had great results in using AA#2 in 9mm and have shared with a fellow reloader for his 45acp rounds. The thing I like about is that it meters well and is considerably less in price than others. In my quest to stock up as well as consolidate my components, AA#2 has fit in well. It has a low loading density in 9mm so you end up with more bangs for your bucks. My collegue also seems to say the same about his 45 acp loads.
