so do you have any EASILY concealable pistols in 357 SIG?  do they shoot decent?  I've never got ahold of a compact one to try- don't imagine it being easy at all to group.  also going from small ccw type to full size glock how much difference is there in percieved recoil and muzzle flip?

Oh yes!
357 SIG is just an inherently accurate and reliable cartridge and so are the pistols for it.
My favorites are the SIGs and the Glocks.
Most everyone has 357SIGs in their line: S&W - M&P; Springfield XD, etc., etc..
A lot of State Police and Federal Agencies use them.

Especially in Fall & Winter, a G31 isn't all that hard to conceal / carry:

The most versatile horse in the stable is the G32:

For deep concealment, my favorite is the SIG P239:

I also like the SIG P250 Compact, the SIG P226 E2 or DAK, and the SIG P229 E2 or DAK.

Prices on the [relatively new] SIG P250 Compact [SIG Night Sites are standard] are comparable to Glock prices [$500+]; but it is hard to find them in 357SIG.

Fortunately, for about $350, you can buy the Exchange kit, which has everything but the fire control unit, which you can pull out of any other p250.

That modular system is really neat.

The E2s are so new and so expensive [$1000 range ] that I am still in cardiac arrest.
At present, they are available in 9mm only, but 357SIG and 40cal will be shipping soon.
They are very very nice.

The DAKs can be had for around $700+.

I have a full size M&P in 357 SIG, very impressive round.  I can add a factory barrel in 40 S&W for $75, and a Storm Lake 9mm conversion barrel (need 9mm mags) for $150 and I've got one gun that shoots three common handgun calibers, not a bad kit to have in an emergency situation.

When shooting 9mm, you may want to use a lighter recoil spring, if it does not cycle reliably.    :)

Texas HP likes them. But the older folks still prefer the old .357 revolvers. I can see their point.... (:

I had the Glock compact 357sig it was not so accurate and was loud. loud is something to consider in a defensive handgun. If you can't hear when the cops show up and are holding a weapon it could get trickey for ya.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Not a bad round. I don't think it's all it made out to be.  I carry a P229 and Glock 33. I believe the 165/155 grain 40 S&W ammo has a better record for self defense and for ballistics you could equal the 357 sig (factory stuff,) with 9mm +p or +P+. I have had terrible luck with putting down deer that have been struck by motor vehicles.

I fired the 229 on a night range with a mix of 40 S&W and 45 acp guns. The other guys actually got off line due to the boom and muzzle blast. Muzzle blast isn't a good thing! I always like this round and I don't mind carrying it, but I'm starting to think it's not the end all be all of handgun rounds.
