« on: January 27, 2004, 09:30:15 AM »
BUT,
I WAS ALSO HOPING TO FIND SOMEONE WHO MAKES A DROP IN.
REALL WANT TO STAY AWAY FROM DRASTIC MODS TO THE METAL.
WOULD PREFER A BEAVERTAIL SIMILAR TO THE BISLEYS, NOT HAPPY WITH THE RATHER SHARP HAMMER ON MY BIRDSHEAD.
I GUESS SINCE I'M ASKIN, PEARL GRIPS WOULD BE NIC TOO,  ;)
THANKS IN ADVANCE, R

I put a Super blackhawk hammer in mine. They will drop right in. Got one from e-gunparts. The Bisley hammer should drop in also. They are all the same frame.   KN

Please find your CAPLOCKS key. Left side of key board middle key top to bottom. Push it. Lose the ALL CAPS.

It is considered shouting and poor manners on the internet. Even worse it is very difficult to read. Site policy is to request a change and then to delete posts if the request is ignored. Just too difficult for those of us with poor eyesight to read.

they said would have to modify frame. thats why asking for the drop in if I don't like it don't want it to have been a one way road, R

I wasn't aware there was any difference in the frame for a bisely verses a blackhawk. I do know that a Super Blackhawk hammer will drop in. Thats what I have in mine.   KN

the only hammer I have felt that I liked the feel of was the bisley, so I guess I only inquired as to whether or not the bisley hammer would fit my vaquero, and it would seem until here no one else has suggested hammers from redhawks blackhawks bearcats and so on. so you have a birdshead vaquero with a super blackhawk hammer, and if so is this a wide beavertail like hammer? thanks R

It's not as fancy as the bisley hammer. but it does have a wide thumb spur unlike the slab sided hammer that the birdshead has.

I have small hands and have changed over all my standard Vaquero hammers to the SBH version...it's a simple drop-in without any firring. If you don't like the larger pad, a few minutes with a Dremel cutting tool can reshape the thumb pad to what you desire, then heat with a torch for a metal blue or use commercial bluing products...btw, I always torch my Ruger hammers to remove the bright shine in the blued versions...
