10 Gauge Turkey Gun

My wife has decided she wants a TDC 20 gauge so I think I will get her one of those and myself a 10 gauge turkey model.  (If the 10 isn't too brutal!) That is what I am here for: I shoot a 30-06 on a regular basis, but have never pulled the trigger on a 10ga. How bad is the recoil in comparison to a 30-06?

Here are some general facts and figures on recoil, there's a big difference, you might want to stick with another 20ga, I went the other way, 12ga 3½" to a 20ga TDC.  ;)

I may just have to buy 2 TDC's as bad as hate to!  :P :P :P

A buddy of mine emailed me and said he had one I could try out, but he wouldn't recommend it. He said it is awful!

I have one, although recoil is subjective from person to person, I dont mind it at all, its pretty heavy so the recoil gets soaked up some.
Id shoot that anyday before a BPS, or even a 3 1/2 12ga

if you have a chance to try before you buy go for it. then you will know for sure.

Daman, do yourself a favor and pick up a small Limbsaver slip-on at Walmart for $20 and try it on the test fire, it will make a world of difference in felt recoil.  ;)

I have the 10GA and I added a Mercury Recoil Reducer to the stock bolt hole...Made a world of difference.

MPC has the best price on C&H MRRs, ya just missed out, they had em on sale last week for $31.00.  :-\

I purchased a 12 ga 3" for close up yote calling and bought some tungsten coyote loads.  I had no supressor or lead in the stock and it was a brutal experience, actually unbearable!!  Be careful of what you wish for!

The 16oz -7/8" model will fit the stock bolt hole perfect with a few wraps of tape around each end, see the FAQs for info on how I did mine.

i took the stock on my 10 gauge and cut it to give me a 14 1/4 in length. and i screwed the biggest , fattest limbsaver recoil pad i could find on the stock. i then built up the stock with that hairy fiberglass body filler. sanded it all smooth, and painted it with epoxy black paint. it weighs about 1/2 lb less than it did with the steel bar in it and it is now "almost a pussycat" with 3 1/2 black cloud. i'd put pics on if i new how.anyone interested in seeing it , send me your email and i'll send pics.

I ordered mine directly from C&H and they custom cut it to my specs...I just measured the bolt hole and gave them the depth.  When I received it, I just had to add a small rubber washer to the bolt hole to take up a smidge of extra space and it was good.  It balances nicely as well...

Glad I found this post. Daughter is scared of shooting the shotgun in Cowboy Action Shooting even though I make her lite loads and fit the shotgun to her frame size. Have the recoil pad with an extra pad. Think I'll order the suppresser and see how it does. Thanks!!
