1911:  I think you have to be careful with the surplus, especially if it is made or was made for submachine guns.  If the add for the ammo specifies that it is for the 7.62 Tokarev pistol it should be ok, but a awful lot of that stuff was made for the sub guns and is too hot for pistols.

I would say that the most recent manufacture would be most likely to be at the pistol level of pressure but I am not aware of any Polish surplus - maybe there is.  I would think the Yugo/Czech might be the best bet as I believe the newer manufacture S&B and PRVI are made there and their ammo is very good.

But, let us not forget our very own Ron Reed, who makes the best 7.62x25mm ammo this side of the big pond.  I would (1) actively seek his advice and (2) most likely purchase from him.  I know he has a bunch of different loadings for the Tokarev round and specific loadings for the CZ52 as well as the Tok.  I know that if I was going to order from him I would ask that his loads at least duplicate the velocity of the S&B ammo but wear a hollowpoint or soft nose.

Speaking of Toks, any idea of where to get spare firing pins, springs and retaining pins?????  I have a young friend with a WWII bring back missing the firing pin, firing pin spring and firing pin retaining pin and he would like to put this pistol back in action if it is safe.  I know we can get recoil springs and the like from Wolffe but nobody else I have seen lists the other parts.  Thanks.

1911 - You didn't say which model pistol you have (the CZ52 is the strongest!). The only ammo I've been "warned off of" has been the Bulgarian. (Too late! I fired some of that ammo in my CZ52 before I heard it was "too hot", and they "clocked" over 1700fps and wasn't particularly accurate!) If the ammo is made for machine guns, Mikey is right, I'd be reluctant to use it my pistol and wouldn't consider it if I had a Tokarev.  I've tried most ammo from the other countries, except the Polish, and they work fine. They all are corrosive, but a good cleaning with "Windex" with "ammonia" will take care of that (hot soapy water will as well). I now mostly reload "boxer" primed cases at between 1300 and 1500fps range without the corrosion while achieving decent accuracy.

I have a few different tok pistols w/ a CZ52.

I purchased a new tok barrel that is chrome lined.

I just got a couple tins of 7.62X25 from Sportsmans Guide - The price is right. Thinking of getting another.

For my Colefire Magnum Semi-auto pistol the corrosive ammo is just fine.  Don't use the ammo in a Mauser Broomhandle however way to hot.

I know the bulgarian 7,62x25 ammo is way too hot for the toks its machine pistol ammo.
