Hog hunting

I'll be near Brunswick Ga. next month and would like to find open land to hunt hogs  nearby.   I noticed some roadkill near Darien last year but am not familiar with the area.  Can anyone help?

Hey Al,
I tell ya, it's just about impossible to find land to hunt in Georgia anymore unless you own it or belong to a club and pay through the nose!  I guess it's even worse in Florida 'cause they all come up to Georgia and rent everything they can!   

There has always been a lot of hogs along the cost and the Brunswick area is no exception.  But it's also populated and land is at a priemium.  And that makes it jelously guarded by those who lease it.  Now Fort Stewart, up I-95 a piece from Brunswick, is eat up with hogs.  I don't know what their policies and procedures are though.

Thanks Richard;  I was hoping there might be some farmers who might want to get rid of some hogs or some state land open to hunting.  I know up here n NY there are some landowners who don't want deer hunters but would like to get rid of coyotes; Thought it might be similar situation.  Al

There might be but such farmers out there but they will be few and far between.  And finding them would be difficult.  Landowners in Georgia have found that leasing hunting rights is a pretty good cash crop.

There are a lot of Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) around though.  Go to the Dept. of Natural Resources web site and pull up a copy of the hunting regs.  It shows all the WMA's and what is available.  I never looked for hogs specifically, but I seem to remember looking at a WMA where you could only take them during deer season.  Don't cite me on that though.
