help to pick new 1911 45 ACP
« on: April 18, 2010, 07:13:11 AM »
I need help to pick from one of the following 1911 45 ACP for new purchase:

1. Kimber SS Custom TLE II with night sights
2. Colt SS Govt. Model 0107XSE
3. Springfield PX9151LP, Loaded SS or Loaded Parkerized with night sights

Any opinions on selection is appreciated. Kimber and Colt are made in America. I have had some problems with older Colts, Front sight ran away, dust cover rub issues. Now with new equipment, any problems?

Springfield and glued in ejectors?

Thanks

All 3 of those are good but I personally lean to the Kimber. Not on your list are the 2 that I am crazy about. Anything from Para Ord is good but I am so impressed with a couple of S&W 1911's that I would put it up there with my Kimbers. I predict you are going to be happy with any of the ones you have named.

I have not owned a S&W or a Colt. But I am so happy with my Kimber that if I were to buy another 1911, Kimber is all I would shop for. I don't care for external extractors on S&Ws.

I agree.

I own the following 1911's:
Kimber Raptor
Colt National Match
Springfield Mil Spec
AMT Hardballer

Listed from favorite to least though the top two are very hard to choose between and all are nice guns.

Colt is a good choice--the XSE is not my favorite.
Kimber is not a bad choice and I champion those without the external ejector--though that is personal opinion.

I bought one of the rock islands a few years ago to use as a builder. After shooting it nothing but the sights and grips got changed. I have a standard i hold all my pistols to. 1. It must feed and fire without failure. 2. It must be accurate. 3. It must have a good trigger. The R.I.A. 1911 did all this out of the box. No tinkering required, it even feeds my semi wadcutter reloads and the hornaday rounds.
