Howdy Max Hunter :D ,

I've owned a 10inch bull 45 ACP barrel now for going on 25years.  With open sights @ 25yds it's a one holer with my load of ww231 and a 200gr bullet.  Use it for strickly paper punching.  Don't know what else you would use the ACP for, as there are better calibers for hunting.  Just my opinion.

Thanks Doc, Sounds like a good shooter "One Holer" The load you use is the same I use in my 1911. Just looking for something different to play with. I do alot of metal shooting. Most the time with .22's,.357 Max. Long range with a 6.5JDJ. Max Hunter :-)

Just a thought if you handload. Think about a .45 Win mag. You can download it to 45 power or run to full kick butt loads. I realy like mine. It is accurate with most loads. Ed's TC has some for a reasonable price.

I agree with Mike about the 45 win mag.You really don't here much about the win mag but it is a real good round in my 14" tube.It loves Blue Dot powder and 250 xtp bullets.I have a red dot on mine if I want iron sights I use my 45 colt.I also have shot alot of 45 acp in the 45 win mag barrel which are accurate also.

I haven't even thought of using actual 45 ammo in my barrel. I have just downloaded 45 Mag cartriges to 45 velocities. What keeps the round from just pushing into the long chamber when the firing pin strikes?

The extractor has to be holding case in place no way it can space on chamber.I never have had any problems but I am not saying it is the right thing to do.
