need a quick opinon 17 hmr or a 22 mag for fox or coyotes what do you think is better

I suppose you mean called in.  I use a 22 mag but I'm for sure a 17 will do just fine; for fox.  For coyotes you better be very controlled and an expert or you'll be trailing alot of coyotes.

I have used both.The 22 wmr is an adequate caliber in skilled hands.The 17 is expensive to shoot and I wouldn't trust it against an enraged muskrat.At under 70 yds,I had a crow flop around for about 5 minutes,bullet enteredthe breast,exited the back.
Keep the shots relative to the 22Mag's range and you'll be ok with it.
Serious yote and fox work requires a little more snot.

Before its asked,the reason I use any kind of rimfire for yotes is that nite hunting is limited to shotguns and rimfires.
